Belina specialises in supporting women with complex barriers to employment.

Our unique approach motivates them to get ready for work through cost effective, community based, voluntary programmes.

We have strong retention rates, and a strong record of supporting women to stay in work piloting new ways of measuring progression into work.

GRoW won the innovation awards at the 2021 national National Employment Related Services Association (ERSA) Awards for our revolutionary GRoW App. We were also highly commended at the 2019 and 2014 ERSA Awards.

Our Get Ready for Work programme GRoW has a person-centred approach to engagement and retention and the use of the latest ideas in behavioural insight encourages people to take responsibility for their own return to work and chimes with the new ideas of the Work and Health Programme.

Our Expression of Interest
We are seeking to partner with Primes who want employability programmes people value: programmes people want to join and stay with, and we want to help them make projects more attractive and useful for the individuals taking part.

If you want to talk more about this approach please fill in the contact form. We will get straight back to you.

A little bit more about Belina

Belina Consulting has nine years’ experience running group session employability programmes – across London and in the West Midlands. We have supported over 2000 people and trained more than 250 staff from over 50 organisations.

We design and deliver our own innovative programmes, and run a ‘Training the Trainers’ programme endorsed by the Institute of Employability Professionals. We have just started work on two BBO contracts in London West and South supporting BAME women into work.

Our programmes have a specific and measurable beneficial impact. Over eight years we have documented:

  • 85% retention rate
  • 93% of participants give the programme the highest evaluation
  • 95% say it builds their confidence and they would recommend it to others
  • 85% say it motivated them to do something new

Get Ready for Work, GRoW, is specially designed for people who need to gain the confidence and resilience to return to work and comprises six two-hour group sessions.

Key aspects

  • Relaxed and supportive group sessions – we create an atmosphere that enables people to participate, which starts from the moment the first person arrives.
  • Dynamic and focused activities – these need to be enjoyable, so that parents participate, yet designed to ensure they get to think through the issues
  • Professionally designed and printed, high quality materials that give people confidence in the programmes
  • A structured approach to deliver outcomes.
  • Added value

All our activities have behavioural insights as a base and all are new, created by us, rather than using stock approaches. We have incorporated Nudge Theory and Kahneman’s “Thinking, Fast and Slow” to boost involvement and outcomes. Activities like our “Timeline”, looking at the next 20 years for the whole family, can be revelatory.

Around half of our participants are bi-lingual, so our programmes have been designed to work particularly well for those with English as a second language, with easy-to-use activity sheets, chances to draw and act out as well as talk, and small group work.

We are a peripatetic organisation, used to going to local venues all over London. We bring with us small but important things that make the rooms we use more welcoming and the sessions more inviting. Instances of delight, such as fresh flowers, fairy lights and pretty napkins, make people feel special and valued.

We have a continuous improvement approach, regularly taking courses and attending conferences and we collaborate on sharing best practice through a blog and our social media project.

We have worked with primes, housing associations local authorities, charities, and JCP and in over 60 Children’s and Community Centres

  1. This is a high impact organisation which changes women’s lives. I didn’t expect to receive so much support and encouragement. Five stars work ethic and expertise. If you feel lonely or lost don’t hesitate to contact them. You will not regret this!
