At a socially distanced event on 16 October, Rt Hon Stephen Timms MP,  Chair of the Work and Pensions Committee, presented the ERSA 2020 Jobcentre Plus Award to Canning Town JCP.

Elizabeth Taylor CEO at ERSA said

“The team at ERSA were delighted that this ERSA Employability Award presentation could take place, recognising the collaboration between Canning Town Jobcentre and employment support and training providers. Thank you to the Rt Hon Stephen Timms for his support of ERSA and our membership”.

Sarah Phillips, from Canning Town Jobcentre, whose work prompted the award said

“I am very proud to have played my part in Canning Town JCP winning for our partnering with Belina’s  GRoW programme to empower the women of Newham.”

Liz Sewell of Belina Get Ready for Work said the project, funded by the ESFA and Primed by Groundwork, had been

“a real opportunity to bring together the Jobcentre, local children’s centres and community organisations to work in true partnership with local women who benefitted by getting jobs, starting new training courses and joining innovative online ESOL programmes. That made a real difference during lockdown.”

The Award was sponsored by Setas. Director Richard Brooks said…

“SETAS were proud to sponsor the first Jobcentre of The Year ERSA Award, recognising excellent partnership with our sector. Many congratulations to the Canning Town Jobcentre team!”
